Have you ever opened up your web browser and had a new, unfamiliar home page?
Do you notice advertisements in strange positions on the page, or appearing on sites that didn’t have them before?
Do you get redirected to odd websites, instead of the link you actually clicked?
These are common symptoms when your computer, or at least your web browser, has been compromised by malware. Malware are programs that carry out malicious activity, such as the ability to:
- Record your keystrokes as you enter your password in a web form
- Use your computer to generate fake “clicks” on ads
- Use your email account to send spam and viruses to your contacts
If you are a Google Chrome user who is experiencing these symptoms, there is a free tool you may want to try.
The Chrome Cleanup Tool is a free application made by Google to fix common and unwanted changes to the Chrome web browser for Windows users.
Step 1 – Download
Download the Chrome Cleanup Tool. It is for Windows users only.
